What to include

When reporting a problem, include as much of this as you can:

  • Your iOS version.
  • The version of Make Hay you are using.
  • The goal type you configured.
  • What you expected to happen.
  • What actually happened.

Common questions

Health data is not updating

  1. Open Make Hay and go to Settings.
  2. Tap Refresh Sync.
  3. If tracking still has not started, open the Health app.
  4. Tap your profile in the top-right corner.
  5. Open Apps & Services.
  6. Select Make Hay.
  7. Confirm the requested categories are enabled.

The app cannot block apps

Make Hay needs Screen Time and Family Controls permission in order to apply app restrictions.

  1. Open Make Hay and go to Settings.
  2. Review the Screen Time permission row.
  3. Re-request permission if available.
  4. If needed, open the app's iOS Settings page and review permission status there.

I just finished activity, but my apps are still blocked

iOS can delay background health delivery. Open Make Hay and tap Refresh Sync to force an immediate re-check.

What is Focus Pass?

Focus Pass is a temporary emergency access flow for moments when you are still blocked but need brief access to selected apps. It does not change your goals. Apps re-lock automatically after the active-use budget is consumed.

Why do some changes ask me to press and hold?

When you are currently blocked, Make Hay adds an Active Pause before changes that could weaken your current guardrails. The pause duration depends on the risk of the change:

  • 20s for Focus Pass because it is temporary and bounded.
  • 35s for easier goal edits.
  • 45s for removing apps from a locked vault.
  • 60s for goal removal, Unlock Rule changes, vault deletion, and reset-time changes.

The simulator is not behaving correctly

Apple's Family Controls and Managed Settings behavior is limited on the iOS Simulator. Test app blocking behavior on a physical iPhone.
